How to work out the Surface Area of a cylinder

Answer 1

Fist break down the cylinder so that the two circles and flat and the long circular part is a rectangle.

Then to find the area of the top circle times whatever the radius is by itself for e.g.
3 cm so the Area would be 9π
5 cm the Area would be 25π

Then find the Area of the Rectangle for e.g.
8cm but 8x8 = 48
so 48π

Then to find the Surface Area of the shape ADD everything together

9π + 9π + 48π = 66π
