Math 10 Flashcards
Complement
The set of all outcomes that are not the event
Compound event
An event made up of two or more simple events
Dependent event
Events for which the outcome of one event affects the probability of the second event
Combination
An arrangement of items of of events of which order does not matter
Equally Likly
Outcomes that have the same probability
Event
An outcome or set of outcomes of an experiment or situation
Experiment
In probability, any activity based on chance, such as tossing a coin
Experimental probability
The ratio of the number of times an event occurs to the total number of trials, or times that the activity is performed
Factorial
The product of all whole numbers accept zero that are less or equal to a number
Fair
When all outcomes of an experiment or Likly the expeirement is concise red fair
Fundamentally counting principle
If one event has m possible outcomes an event has n possible outcomes after the first event has occurred then there are mXn total possible outcomes for the two events
Independent events
Events for which the outcome of one event does not effect the probability of the other
Outcome
The possible result of a probability expeirement
Permutation
An arrangement of events or items in which order is important
Prediction
Something you can reasonably think to happen in the future
