It is also known as vitamin B9.
It prevents neural tube defects (think B for brain)
What are early decels?
- Due to?
- Are they normal?
Early decels: start prior to the contraction
- Due to head compression
- Normal if variability within normal and returns to baseline quickly
What are variable decels?
- Due to?
- What do we do?
Late decels: v-shaped on the strip and occur at anytime during labour
- Due to cord compression
- Change the mother’s position and stop pitocin (if infusing)
- Call PCP if continues
What are late decels?
- Due to?
- What do we do?
Late decels: occur at peak of contractin and last as long as the contraction
- Due to uteroplacental insufficiency
- Change the mother’s position and stop pitocin
- Call PCP is continues
What is the treatment for hypotension from an epidural?
- Stop the pitocin
- Turn client on the left side
- Administer O2
