What are early deceleration’s

A

This is a normal sign if the baseline fetal heart rate goes back to normal. it begins prior to the peak of a contraction and Stops at the end of a contraction. it is caused by head compression

Variable decelerations

A

Noted as V-shaped on the Monitoring strip. Can occur at any time during the monitoring of the fetus caused by cord compression. Change mother’s position, stop Pitocin, apply oxygen, increase IV fluids. Contact healthcare provider

Late decelerations

A

Occurs after the peak of the contraction and mirrors the contraction in length and intensity. These are caused by uteroplacental insufficiency.
Change mother’s position, stop pitocin, Increased IV fluids. Contact healthcare provider
