What is an ore?
Ores are metals found in rocks as compounds. They contain enough metal to make it economic to extract the metal.
What is a native ore? Give two examples
An ore found in a pure form in the rock.
Gold and Platinum are native ores.
What is oxidation?
A reaction where oxygen is added to a compound.
What is reduction?
A reaction where oxygen is removed from a compound.
What is a polymer?
A substance made of very long molecules with identical groups of atoms repeated many times.
What is composite
A substance made up of a number of different materials.
What is a compound?
Two or more elements chemically bonded together
