Treatments of mastitis

A

Non pharmacologic: Continue breastfeeding Massage breasts Cold compresses Supportive bra

Pharmacologic: NSAIDS/ACETAMINOPHEN
Dicloxacillin 500mg four times a day
Cephalaxin 500mg four times a day
Clindamycin 300-450mg three times a day

Mastalgia treatment

A

Bromocriptine(especially for cyclical pain)
•Danazol: side effects of amenorrhea, weight gain, acne and hirsutism.
•Tamoxifen: studied to be effective in Italy, not FDA approved for this indication in US
•Non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
