milk stasis - eg poor attachment

can be infectious (staph aureus) or non infectious

A

reduced feeding on a breast
poor attachment to breast
dummy + bottle
tight bra

mastitis +- abscess - management

A

USS breast
keep feeding (express if can’t)
avoid tight bra
warm compress
fluclox if infected - return if doesn’t work
breastfeeding counsellor - advice on attachment + positioning

abscess - refer breast clinic:
penicillin (as staph aureus + safe)
USS-guided aspiration (OP)

2ww breast clinic if not lactational (?inflam BC)
