Higher range advantage = bet more often
Range Advantage Categories
Strong advantage (>58%)
– Bet nearly everything (Premium, Draw, Marginal, Junk)
Medium advantage (54-58%)
– Bet often (Premium, Draw + Extra Bluffs)
Weak advantage (<54%)
– Bet less often (Premium + Draw)
How does position affect betting frequency?
Bet more when in position
Range advantage is rarely huge when OOP
What is the relationship between betting frequency and size?
As you bet more frequently, generally bet smaller (< 33% pot)
As you bet less frequently, generally bet bigger (50-100% pot)]
When do you have nut advantage?
When you have more combinations of premium hands (usually 2 pair or better) than the opponent on a given board
What is the relationship between nut advantage and bet sizing?
When you have the nut advantage, bet larger
When you do not have the nut advantage, bet smaller
What is range advantage?
The advantage that one player’s likely range has over the opponent’s on a given board
What is range connectivity?
How strongly a board hits an opponent’s likely continuing range
(Usually only matter when you have the range advantage)
How does range connectivity affect bet sizing?
When your opponent has better range connectivity, bet larger
When your opponent has poor range connectivity, bet smaller
What is the betting behavior when the current nuts are likely to remain the nuts by the river?
Usually bet small
How does stack depth affect bet sizing?
When stacks are deep, bet larger
When stacks are shallow, bet smaller
(Unless your stack is really short. Then you can jam)
