Ling Gu location
- aka 22.05
- in the juncture of the 1st and 2nd dorsal metacarpal bones with the fingers in a grip
- Below LI 4
- 1.2 can proximal to Da Bai (22.04)
- directly opposite to Chongxian (22.03)
Ling Gu indications:
- famous for sciatica d/t hypo function of the LU
- Low back pain
- Menstrual problems (irregular mensuration, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea)
Ling Gu needling:
- insert 1.5 - 2.0 cun needle to pierce through Chong Xian (22.02)
Ling Gu contraindicated:
during pregnancy (just like LI 4)
Da Bai location:
- aka 22.04
- on the dorsal of the hand
- in the depression 0.5 cun from the joint of the index finger and thumb (above LI 4)
- between the 1st and 2nd metacarpal bones
- lock the fingers in a grip to locate the point
Da Bai indications:
- Sciatica due to hypo function of the LU
- Asthma in children
- high fever (most effective)
Da Bai needling:
- Insert a 1.5 cun needle to a depth of 0.5 - 1.0 cun for sciatica
- three edged needle is used to that child asthma, high fever, and acute pneumonia with excellent effect
Da Bai contraindicated:
- during pregnancy
Zhongbai location:
- same as SJ 3
- between the dorsal metacarpal bones of the little and ring fingers
- 0.5 cun proximal to the metcarpophalangeal joint
- lock the fingers in a grip to locate the point
Zhongbai indications:
- sciatica due to renal (KD def) problems
- lower back pain due to renal problems
- back pain
- dizziness
Zhongbai needling:
-insert a needle to a depth of 0.3-0.5 cun
Chongxian location:
- with the palm facing upward
- located on the thenar eminence
- about 2 cun from the skin folks between the 1st and 2nd metacarpals
- find skin fold (landmark) and PC 7 (landmark), divide line into 3, lower is Chongxian
Chongxian indications:
- back pain
- pneumonia
- fever
- palpitations
- knee pain
Fu Ke location:
- 2 points
- located on the dorsal side of the thumb
- on the ulnar aspect
- on the proximal segment
- on the line 0.3 cun away from the midline of the thumb
- one point - 1/3 from the 2nd finger crease
- the other point - 2.3 from the 2nd finger crease
Fu Ke indications:
pain of the uterus
- infertility
- irregular mensuration
Fu Ke needling:
- needle closely along the edge of the phalanx to a depth of 0.2-0.3 cun. The two points are needled simultaneously
Huan Cho location:
- ring finger
- on the ulnar and palmar side of the middle segment of the ring finger
- in the center between the 2nd and 3rd finger creases
Huan Cho indications:
- uterine pain/tumor
- irregular menstruation
- frequent urination
- vaginal swelling
Huan Cho needling:
- insert 0.5 needle to depth of 0.2-0.3 cun
Huan Cho contraindication:
contraindicated to needle the point on both hands simultaneously
Wu hu location:
- on the radial aspect of the proximal segment of the palmar side of the thumb, 0.2 can between each point.
- 5 different points (five tiger)
- finger pain
- supplementary for 1
- toe pain/headache
- ankle pain
- sole pain
Wu hu indications:
- general swollen joints and bones
Wu hu needling:
- insert the needle along the radial aspect to a depth of 0.2 - 0.4 cun, depending on the treatment of the nearby or distal point
Ganmen location:
- LV gate
- between SI 8 and SI 5, medial border of ulna
- with the palm placed on the chest
- locate the point in the center of the medial aspect of the ulna
- 6 cun proximal to the pisiform bone
Ganmen indications:
- acute hepatitis
Xin men location:
- 1.5 cun from SI 8
- in the depression on the medial side of the inferior ulna
- 1.5 cun distal to the elbow
Xin men indications:
- famous for knee pain/hip joint/or groin pain
- carditis
- HT palpitations
- suffocating feeling in the chest
- vomiting
- dry cholera
Xin men contraindicated:
- contraindicated to needle bilaterally
Hua bao location:
- on the plantar side of the 2nd toe
- in the center of the distal crease (1st crease)
Hua bao indications:
- LV diseases
- difficult labor
- retention of placenta
- angina pectoris
Hua bao needling:
- bleeding (the best result)
Hua bao contraindicated:
contraindicated during pregnancy
Shang liu location:
- in the center of the anterior edge of the heel
- below KD 1 … right below the heel
Shang liu indications:
- brain tumor (effective)
- nose bleeding
- stuffy nose
- encephaledema pain of the cerebellum
- cranial nerve pain
- debility
Shang liu needling:
- insert 0.5 cun deep in maximum (no more than 0.5 cun deep)
- acute brain concussion - bleed Shang Liu along with Zheng jin and KD 2
Zheng jin location:
- same level as UB 60
- in the center of the tendons calcaneus
- 3.5 cun superior to the base of the heel
Zheng jin indications:
- vertebral pain due to sprain
- lumbar vertebral pain
- neck pain and rigidity
- cranial enlargement
- hydrocephalus
Zheng jin needling:
- insert 0.5-0.8 cun deep
- more effective when the needle pierces through the tendon
Liu wan location:
- between 4th and 5th metatarsal bones
- 0.5 cun proximal to the web between the 4th and 5th toes
- almost same point as GB 43
Liu wan indications:
- hemostasis - bleeding d/t traumatic injury
- migraine along Shao yang channel
- dizziness
tinnitus
Liu wan needling:
insert 0.5 cun deep
Liu wan contraindicated:
- contraindicated in patients with asthma, lung disease, expectoration of profuse sputum, weak constitution
Guanming location:
- 1 cun posterior and 2 cun superior to the medial malleolus
- overlaps with KD 7
- 2 cun above KD 3, along anterior border calcaneus tendon
Guang ming indications:
- treats any KD def
- deviation of eyeball
- glaucoma
- cataract
Guang ming needling:
- insert 0.5-1.0 cun deep
Shang chun location:
- at the lower lateral ridge of the patella
Shang chun indications:
- lip pain
- ulceration of mucous
- herpes (oral, genital)
Shang chun needling:
- bleed until dark red blood appears
Xia Chun location
- 1.0 cun inferior to the lower lateral patellar ridge
- 1 cun below Shang Chun
- ST 35 sort of between Shang chun and Xia chun
Xia chun needling:
- bleed until dark red blood appears
Shen guan location:
- kidney gate
- 1.5 cun inferior to SP 9
- along tibia
Shen guan indications:
- vertigo
- epilepsy
- anemia
- neuropathy
- hyperacidity
Shen guan needling:
- insert 1-2 cun deep
