What are endangerment sites?
Areas where blood vessels, nerves etc become more superficial. Not protected by muscle/ other soft tissue
List all 11 endangerment sites?
anterior throat and neck, posterior triangle of neck, axillary area, thoracolumbar (just below floating ribs), sciatic notch, femoral triangle, popliteal space, head of fibula, behind & below medial malleolus, lateral epicondyle of humerus, medial epicondyle of humerus
What is in the popliteal space?
Popliteal artery and vein and common peroneal nerve
What is at the head of the fibula?
Common peroneal nerve
What is in the femoral triangle?
External iliac artery, femoral nerve, femoral artery, femoral vein
What is in the sciatic notch (between PSIS and ischial tuberosity)?
Sciatic nerve
What is found posterior and inferior to medial malleolus?
Tibial artery and nerve
What is in the axillary region (anterior armpit)?
Axillary artery and vein, Brachial artery, Cephalic vein (remember ABC)
What and where is the endangerment site in the thoracolumbar region?
Kidneys (top end just deep to lowest floating ribs)
What structures are found in the anterior part of throat and neck?
Vagus nerve and carotid artery
What/ where is the posterior triangle of neck?
Anterior border is sternocleidomastoid muscle, posterior border is trapezius, inferior border is mid 1/3 of clavicle
What structures are found in the posterior triangle of neck?
Subclavian arteries and vein, nerves of brachial plexus, brachiocephalic artery and vein
Medial epicondyle of humerus
Ulnar nerve
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Radial nerve
