Movement of materials downslope due to gravity.

Define soil creep (mass movement)
Continous movement of soil particles downslope.
What causes soil creep?
soil creep is caused by presence of soil moisture, weathering etc.
Define mudflow? (mass movement)
Large quantities of fine material flow downhill.
What causes mudflow?
Heavy rain saturated the soil, and when water can’t soak deeper, the top layers turn fluid and flows downhill.
What’s rock fall (mass movement)
Cliff get undercut by sea, causing rock to fell off.
What’s scree (talus)
Scree is a collection of broken rocks at base of cliff.
What’s Slump (mass movement)
Portion of land moves down slopes in a rotational manner.
What causes slump
Excessive lubrication.
Define Solifluction?
Solifluction is the slow downhill flow of water saturated soil in arctic regions.
What causes solifluction
Solifluction is caused by frozen ground blocks water, making the soil above oversaturated and causing it to slide downhill
