masks Flashcards
this is the preferred method for delvering oxygen in the prehospital setting when a high concentration is desirable
nonrebreather mask
this device has a reservior bag attached to the mask with a one-way valve between themthat prevents the patient’s exhaled air from mixing with oxygen in the reservior (pt draws in 100% oxygen)
nonrebreather mask
what should the flow from the oxygen cylinder be set at for a nonrebreather
15 lpm
this device provides very limited oxygen concentration ranging from 24%-44% (low flow system), used when pt cannot use a nonrebreather mask
nasal cannula
what liter flow should the nasal cannula be set at?
no less than 1 lpm and no greater than 6 pm
this mask has no reservior and can deliver up to 60% oxygen, exhaled air exists through holes and inhaled air is drawn through holes on the side diluting oxygen being administered
(NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PREHOSPITAL USE)
simple fae mask
what is the oxygen low rate for a simple face mask?
usually set at 10 lpm NO LESS than 6 lpm
this mask is equipped witha 2 way valve that allows the pt to rebreath about 1/3 of exhaled air
partial rebreather mask
what mask provide oxygen concentrations of 35-60%
partial rebreather mask
what should the partial rebreather mask be set at
usually set at 10 lpm NO LESS 6 lpm
