What does Louis Althusser think
He feels that education is a an ‘ ideological state apparatus’ –> agencies who serve to spread the dominant ideology and justify the power of the dominant social class. E.g. A teacher.
What do Bowls and Gintis think
They think there is a relationship between work and education
What do the marxists think the main purpose of education is
To prepare people for the world of work
Helps people prepare for capitalist working
What did Paul Willis think
He thinks students don’t always obey the teachers
He found a similarity between sexism
He feels that schools aren’t preparing students for the work force
He wrote a book called “ how working class students get working class jobs”
