Bowles and Gintins - Correspondence principle
Education mirrors the world of work.
Bowles and Gintis - Myth making machine
Education is designed to justify inequality by stating failure is due to a lack of hard work rather than inequality
Bowles and Gintis - The Hidden Curriculum
Consist of things pupils learn informally to reproduce submissive work force
Bowles and Gintis - Surplus of skilled labour

Bowles and Gintis Criticisms

- Why do apprenticeships exist if education prepares us for work
- Not all students are obedient/ passive - Willis W/c lads

Boys actively chose to fail to work their dream jobs as factory workers - joined anti school subcultures.
Willis criticisms

- Only focuses on boys
- Lads could have lied
