Why were King’s peaceful methods so important to the civil rights movement?
> if they had used violence the White racists could have argued that they were uncivilised and did not deserve the same rights as white people
> made the White protestors who attacked them look even worse- gaining sympathy for the movement
> it gained international respect and support for the movement
- 1964 Nobel Peace Prize was a recognition of this
- INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT was crucial in that it put pressure on the U.S. Government to be active in fighting inequality
