A

Experiencing holiness in everyday life.
Growing a bond.
Gaining independence from parents.
“So a man leaves his mother and clings to his wife” Genesis 2:24

What happens during a betrothal?

A

12 months before wedding
Preparation for lives together.
Wedding contract( Ketubah) is signed.
Orthdox focus on legal rights whilst Reform focus on spiritual such as promises.
Shabbat before wedding, Future husband take part in Torah blessing and announces intention to marry.
Celebratory food and drink with congregation
Couples dont see each other until wedding.

What is a Jewish Wedding like?

A

Takes place on any day other than shabbat or festival.
Stand under chuppah.
Two blessings.
Ring placed on finger of bride (Reform exchange)
short speech is made by rabbi or significant person.
Glass broken
Couple spend private time together
Party starts.
