- Can you tell us about your background?
- I was born and raised in Albuquerque, where my parents owned a barbecue restaurant.
- I graduated from UNM with degrees in Philosophy and Psychology
- After managing a high-end restaurant in Denver, I decided to go to law school in Nebraska.
- And I’ve been practicing law in Colorado since moving back to Boulder.
- What have you accomplished during your career/what are your most significant achievements?
- “Despite my non-traditional background and humble beginnings, I’ve garnered ten awards in just four years of practice, including Best Lawyers, SuperLawyers Rising Star, and Avvo’s client choice award.
- I was also one of 20 accepted into the COBALT program out of over 200 applicants.
- I have a strong track record, winning about 80% of contested hearings and motions to dismiss.”

- What inspired you to become an attorney?
“After a lifetime in the restaurant industry, I yearned for a more challenging career where I could make a significant impact. My passion for justice and advocacy led me to pursue law.”
- How do you handle challenging cases/situations? Can you discuss a challenging case and how you handled it?
“One challenging case involved my client being harassed and doxxed on social media over a property dispute. Despite facing an experienced attorney from a family of legal professionals, I conducted an effective cross-examination and won the case. I approach challenging situations with thorough research, strategic planning, and a calm, focused demeanor.”
- What are your future goals in your legal career?
o (1) I want to continue impacting my clients lives

o (3) giving back to my community greater by doing more pro bono and volunteer work

- Why do you think you were selected for Marquis Who’s Who?
- I think that my nomination is a result of my significant achievements I’ve earned in such a relatively short period of time
- I think that my commitment to excellence and community involvement likely played a role as well.
- but I don’t know, this is a major recognition of which I don’t feel worthy
- How do you stay current with the latest legal developments?
- I work in an excellent law firm that encourages expanding our knowledge, especially with new technologies like AI, which I’ve incorporated into my practice.
- Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses are of course critical
- LinkedIn is also a good resource
- writing articles is also a great way for me to stay up to date
- What motivates you in your legal career?
- “The pursuit of excellence and the ability to make a difference in my clients’ lives motivate me.
- Recently, the birth of my son has added a personal dimension to my drive, as I strive to make him proud.”
- Also, I used to play in a metal band in NM, and I’ve overcome a lot to get to where I am. I feel like a good role model to my friends back home who may still be struggling with personal issues.
- How do you balance your professional and personal life?
“I was fortunate to be part of a progressive firm that values work-life balance. I maintain my physical, mental, and spiritual health through running, meditating, and practicing martial arts. Having creative outlets, like playing in a metal band during college, also helps me stay balanced.”
