What is a greenhouse?

Purpose of a greenhouse?
to grow plants during a time of year or in a geographic location where (when) they would not normally grow in nature.
Define floriculture
the art/scienceof growing and utilizing aesthetically valuable plants.
Define forcing.
creating environmental conditions within a greenhouse that are super-optimal for plant growth.
Where are greenhouses typically found?
“Developed” countries with climatic growth/availability limitations, highly developed transportation systems, and abundant inexpensive energy supplies.

Retail florists
purchases flowers/containers from wholesale growers to sel to the public.
primary business is cut flower arrangements

“middleman” between wholesale propagators and wholesale growers.
receives, unpacks, conditions, repacks, reships
Cooperatives
buys finished products for sale to retail markets
common in Europe, not in US
