A

Your response must be sharp and on point. Use a short and sharp quotation to get directly to the point you want to make. Use the subject terminology. Multiple view points if necessary. If you cannot write 3 paragraphs in the time, write three short but good ones, or two longer better ones. Quality over quantity. The interpretation will be critical of the ideas presented in a poem.

If you cannot remember a quotation, what do you do?

A

You refer to the things you can’t remember, paraphrase and use ideas. This is a last resort. Close analysis is important (A02: Zoom). Don’t memorise from all 15. Pick about 6 core poems that present an idea. Remember the first and last parts of a poem, the repetition and metaphors. Revise the key stuff.

How can we move between brackets? A01:

A

All of everything is comparison, the worst thing you can do is forget to compare how they are different or similar. Level 3 is to forget to do comparisons. The difference between level 4 and 5 is to develop your argument as the text goes on, to come to a final judgement. The both however structure aids in creating variation and exploring different avenues of detail. It is also important to know what to compare. Grades 7 to 9 will explore the theme of things, instead of the story, the argument is based off the ideas of the poem. Don’t look at the events of the poem, instead the themes that they evoke.

How can we move between brackets? A02:

A

We can have a great A01, but without our analysis, it can’t be a grade 9. A02 looks at how meaning is created. We cannot compare without this analysis. Note to self: Don’t over analyse else you’re out of time. Analyse a range of techniques, structure and form, don’t make an argument without an analyse.

A

Poppies: wier likes knitting and so references sewing. This isn’t relevant, if you put this irrelevant stuff in about context, then you’re irrelevant. Use context to refer to a question, develop your argument with this context, this can define a 3 to 4 to a 5 argument. Level 3 is to be vague and unclear. level 4 is to not develop the answer with this, yet you have an understanding. Level 5 is to develop your argument. Level 6 is to apply the ideas of level 5 to the entire paper, and to have an explanation of how this context links directly to the question.

How does the poet convey this? Analysis
Why does the poet do this? Context talk about things that influenced a poet, but all poems may not have this. All of the poems have poets with ideas that they want to convey.

A

No, but like, do it because it can really cement the high grade of your essay. A conclusion can help you get the context mark, as you can still compare things here.

How to revise? What do you need?

A

If you don’t have the knowledge, then you cannot apply the skill. To write a good essay you must understand the texts. You must understand the themes for all of the poems. You must know the poets messages. There is usually relevant context to production. You can pre plan your productions using this. Even if you don’t do thorough pre planning, it’s still useful to have something already in the mind. You cannot analyse a second poem if you have not revised another poem. The amount of content should be 50/50 between each poem. If you memorise a quote it’s important to also understand how you can use it.
