Q

What are the 2 minority opinions of the AUTHOR of Mark’s Gospel?

A

(1) the historical Mark did in fact write this gospel [John Mark, companion of Peter] (2) argues that the Gospel of Matthew was pseudonymous (that is
to say, the gospel was always attributed to the historical Mark, but he was not in fact the
author)

Q

2 reasons for Majority Opinion: Between 66 and 70 [MARK]

A

(1) JEWISH WAR - it is argued that the gospel’s apocalyptic material reflects the situation of the First
Jewish War. Therefore, so the argument goes, it can date no earlier than the beginning of
the war in 66. (2) it is argued that the Gospel of Mark does not know about the destruction of the
temple in 70.
