Contracting Governments
Set security levels and provide guidance for protection from security incidents.
RSO
Recognized Security Organization
(RSO) is an organization with appropriate expertise in security matters and with appropriate knowledge of ship and port operations authorized to carry out an assessment
Contracting Governments may authorize RSO to undertake certain security relate activities, including approval of ship security
Renewal of International Ship Certificate :
Every 5 years.
Master/Security Officer
“The shipping company must ensure that their security plan contains a clear statement emphasizing that the master/security officer has overriding authority to make decisions with respect to safety and security.
Duly Authorized Officers
Duly authorized officers are appointed by the contracting government to exercise control and compliance measures under the provisions of regulations XI-2/9.
Declaration of Security
A declaration of security states that security requirements are shared between *port facilities, and a *ship, and/or *between ships.
Examples of required records of ship security activities:
- Security threats/security incidents
- Changes in security level
- Training drills and exercises
- Breach of security
Records must be recorded in 1 of the following 3 languages:
- English
- Spanish
- French

A - Personnel having specific security duties
B - Monitoring and controlling port access
