Maritime And Continetal Flashcards
What is the effect of continental effect in summer?
During summer, the air over land is warmer tahn the air over the sea. This is because land heats up quickly while the sea heats up slowly. Since there is no moderating impact of cool winds form the sea, temperatures remain high in the inland locations. Places further away from sea experience other summers instead of warm summers.
Effect on temperature in winter by continental effect
During inter, the air over the land remains cooler than the air over the sea became the land cools faster than the sea. Since there is no moderating impact of winds of higher temperature from the sea, temperas tyres remain low in the inland locations. Places further away from the sea experience cold winters notepad of cool winters
Effect of temp in summer by maritime effect
During summer, the air over the sea is cooler than the air over the land. This is because land heats up quickly when the sea heats up slowly. When the wind blows landwards, the cooler air over the sea helps to decrease the temperature at costal areas. Costal locations experience warm rather than hot summers.
Effect of maritime effect during winter
During winter, air over the sea remains warmer than air over the land because the sea cools slower than the land. When wind blows landwards, the warm air over the sea increases the temperature of costal areas. Costal locations experience cool winters instead of cold winters.
