A drawing of a certain area
Scale =
A ratio that tells us what a certain distance on the map looks like in real life
Example of scale
1:50 000 —> 1 cm on the map is 50 000 cm in reality

shows how people hove divided places on the Earth into countries, states, cities and other units for the purpous of governing them

shows how the surface of the Earth looks like
Thematic map
is a map that focuses on a particulan theme or a special topic
Topography map
A percise map of a terrain of a certain area

How the land is used (with map symbols)
How is steepness expressed on a topographic map

The steeper the landscape feature
The closer the contour lines are together

North arrow
Legend/key
Scale
Source+date
