How do maoi work
A
Prevent breakdown of monoamine neurotransmitters to increase availability. Type A works on serotonin melatonin epinephrine and NE. Type b works on phenylethylamine. Both work on dopamine.

Special diet?
A
Yes. Must avoid/limit foods with tyrosine.
Ex: alcohol, aged cheese, fermented, yeasts, some meats

Many drug interactions. Should not be taken with other antidepressant, can be lethal.
