MANOMETER Flashcards
a device used to measure the pressure of a fluid (liquid or gas) by balancing it
against a column of liquid.
MANOMETER
defined as the force exerted per unit area. The SI unit of pressure is the
Pascal (Pa)
PRESSURE
The total pressure exerted by a fluid, including atmospheric pressure
ABSOLUTE PRESSURE
The pressure relative to atmospheric pressure.
GAUGE PRESSURE
Pressure below atmospheric pressure
VACUUM PRESSURE
consists of a U-shaped tube partially filled with a liquid (typically
mercury or water) and measures the pressure at a single point.
SIMPLE MANOMETER
The simplest form, used for low-pressure measurements
of liquids.
PIEZOMETER TUBE MANOMETER
consists of a U-shaped glass tube filled with a liquid (usually mercury or
water) and measures the pressure difference between two points or one point relative to
atmospheric pressure.
U-TUBE MANOMETER
measures the difference in pressure between two points in a fluid
system. It is commonly used when measuring pressure in different sections of a pipeline or
across different components.
DIFFERENTIAL MANOMETER
This type is used when the pressure difference is very
small, and the fluid used in the manometer has a lower density
INVERTED U-TUBE MANOMETER
Used when the two fluids have very different densities.
