Oral
when the velum is raised, cutting off the airflow through nasal passage

when the velum is lowered to allow air to pass through nasal passage
Oral stops
articulated by a complete closure of articulators in the oral cavity

a momentarily closing of the airstream at the glottis

articulated with a complete closure in the oral cavity
Frcatives
consonants produced with a continuous airflow through the mouth
Affricates
when consonants show a slow release of closure

Aspiration
the lag in the onset of vocalic voicing is accompanied by the release of air

curling the tongue tip back into the mouth or by bunching the tongue upward and back in the mouth

produced when the tongue tip strikes the alveolar ridge as it passes across it
Glides
very rapidly articulated non syllabic segment
