A

IDLE & Land Ahead

19
Q

Engine Failure after Takeoff Gear-Up (performance adequate)

A

MPTFF GUFU IVF

Maintain Control
- vertically, blue line 80
- HDG with Rudder

Maximize power
- all levers forward

Minimize drag
- gear up, flaps up

Identify, verify, feather
(Prefix with “left” or “right”)

Climb to _____ (safe altitude)
Declare emergency

20
Q

Engine Failure in flight

A

PBLR ALF GUFU IVFF
MPTFF GUFU IVFF

Maintain Control
- HDG with Rudder
- blue line 80

Maximize power
- all levers (MPT) forward

Minimize drag
- gear up, flaps up

Identify, verify, fix or feather

(Prefix with “left” or “right”)

21
Q

Fix flow

A

inop engine (fuel, air, spark)
- fuel XFEED
- alt air ON
- throttle open (at least 1/4 travel)
- mags CYCLE
- pumps on

(Prefix with “left” or “right”)

22
Q

Secure Engine Flow

A

[prefix actions with inop engine “left” or “right” to avoid inadvertently shutting down OE]

Prop - feather

Fuel
- mix IDLE CUT-OFF
- fuel OFF

Air
- Cowl flaps CLOSE (open OE)
- Alt air OFF

  • Mags OFF
  • Pumps OFF
  • Alternator OFF

Check load and gauges

15-20” warmup
Alternator ON

24
Q

Engine Fire 🔥

A

Identify “left or right”

Fuel OFF
Mixture/Prop/Throttle - FULL AFT
Heater off

Consider emergency descent
- throttle IDLE
- prop FWD
- mix RICH
- gear DOWN
- roll 45° bank
- pitch 150 (120 simulation)

25
Q

Emergency Descent

A
  • throttle IDLE
  • prop FWD
  • mix RICH
  • gear DOWN
  • roll 45° bank
  • pitch 150 (120 simulation)
26
Q

RTO rejected takeoff

A

BOTH throttles IDLE.
Maintain directional control, then return to centerline.
Brake as required.

MEI considerations
- no surprises, brief student prior.
- 1st pull power partial.
- 2nd pull mixture.
- ideally 100’ wide runway
- ❄️ icy and snow berms?
- conduct well below < 50 % Vmc —- basically, as soon as the wheels roll.
- be ready to pull both throttles.

27
Q

Manual Gear Extension

A

“Check, Slow, Gear, Pull”

CHECK:
- CB IN
- Master ON
- Alternator ON
- Nav Light OFF

SLOW < 100

GEAR - Down

PULL: EM Extension Knob
