Mandibular 1st Premolars Flashcards
Prominent buccal ridge (well-developed middle buccal lobe)
Mandibular 1st Premolar
ONLY premolar with mesiolingual developmental groove: demarcates mesial marginal ridge from the lingual lobe
Mandibular 1st Premolar
ONLY tooth in which the mesial marginal ridge is at a LOWER level than the distal marginal ridge
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Distance from CEJ to lingual cusp tip = 2/3 distance from CEJ to buccal cusp tip (occulsocervical height)
Mandibular 1st Premolar
ONlY one with transverse ridge: formed by buccal and lingual triangular ridges; separates occlusal fossas
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Buccual ridge bigger than lingual ridge
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Distal occlusal fossa bigger than mesial occlusal fossa
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Lingual cusp is small (may resemble canine cingulum)
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Mesially, busccal cusp tip is centered over root: lingual cusp tip in line with lingual border of root
Mandibular 1st Premolar
More developmental depressions or grooves on mesial side of root
Mandibular 1st Premolar
Lingual height of contour is lingual to outline of root (overhangs the root trunk)
