Hidden Profile Problem
when part of some information is shared among group members (i.e. all members possess this information prior to discussion), whereas other pieces of information are unshared (i.e. information known to only one member prior to discussion). No group member can detect this best solution on the basis of her or his individual information prior to discussion; it can only be found by pooling the unshared information during group discussion
Common information/knowledge effect
The influence of a particular item of information is directly and positively related to the number of group members who have knowledge of that item before the group discussion and judgment

If deliberating groups do well, we should see one or more of these possibilities:
- Groups are equivalent to their best member
- The whole is the sum of the parts
- The whole goes beyond the sum of the parts
