Tx: eliminate moisture, powder, antiyeast lotion [Nystatin pwd, miconzale, clotrimazole - Monistat]

CA-MRSA: Identification and management

A

contagious, spread easily from shared equipment, proximity
Causes severe Ix (fatal pneumonias and sepsis), septic arthritis
Presentation: purulent center, tender indurated erythematous
Prevention:
1. avoid indiscriminate use of Abx
2. hot showers/antimicrobial soaps for at risk populations
3. Clean shared equipment w/ hot sudsy H20, dry linens in dryer
4. ETOH-based hand sanitizers for communal living populations
5. No shared razors
