Q

you’ve got a CNA that has 20 years of experience. has been working in the well baby nursery for the past 5 years. this person has just gotten pulled to the orthopedic floor & you have a post op hip replacement patient that needs to get up and to the chair.

A
  • CNA’s have been taught basic transfer and positioning of patients. it doesn’t matter that she has 20 years of experience, but her skills are better at her own unit (the well baby nursery… not ortho)
  • there are concrete instructions that CNAs have to know when moving an ortho patient. you need to give them specific instructions, or just go to help the CNA with the transfer.
