Used to recommend feeding within 90 days of milling. With stabilized vitamin C, diets can be fed for 180 days postmilling.
What fruits and vegetables are high in vitamin C?
Fresh orange wedges, kale, and cabbage
What diets are associated with an increased incidence of metastatic calcification?
Low in Mg, incorrect Ca:P ration, or extremely high levels of vitamin D
Why might GPs not recognize new foods?
They imprint food and water taste early in life.
Describe hierarchies in GPs.
Dominant male hierarchy with a less defined female hierarchy.
How do GPs scent mark?
Urine, anal, and supracaudal glands.
Up to how many females can be placed with one male?
Up to five sows with one boar.

Sexually immature males can be housed together, but mature boars may fight and group housing of adult males is not recommended.
When are GPs active?
Some say nocturnal, but active with group during light and dark.
In cages without adequate sheltering sites, how do GPs move?
Align along the cage perimeter, end to end, with pups near end of line. Avoid center area.
When GPs are stressed, what behaviors may they exhibit?
Immobility or freezing, pop-corning, darting, or stampeding
What learning style should be used with GPs? Why?
Positive reinforcement. Respond to aversive stimuli with immobility or erratic movements
