Q

What is needed in order for healthy sperm to produce?

A

Sperm does not produce well in body temperature therefore it is in the scrotum where it is located more on the outer side of the body

Cooler temperature in producing sperm will result in a more healthy sperm where as sperm created in body temperature

Q

Testes walls are made up of fibrous connective tissues where it divides the testes into lobules / chambers. Inside the chambers are long tubules which are 70 cm long (they are arranged and look like a small intestine), they are called..

A

Seminiferous tubules (Semin - ni - ferous). These are the site for spermatogenesis

Q

Also in the seminiferous tubules, there are Sertoli cells which..

A

support, nourish and regulate spermatogenic cells

17
Q

What is the purpose of the Epididymus?

A

stores sperm as they mature, they acquire the ability to swim

18
Q

What is the purpose of the seminal vesicle?

A

Contributes to seminal fluid

19
Q

What is the bulbourethral gland / Cowper’s gland?

A

A pea size organ that lie on either side of the urethra, also contributes to seminal fluid

20
Q

Where is the prostate gland located?

A

It surrounds the upper part of the urethra just below the bladder. As men gets older, it becomes bigger making it hard to urinate

21
Q

What is the purpose of the prostate gland?

A

Helps produce seminal fluid

22
Q

What is the purpose of the urethra?

A

to conduct sperm and urine out the body

23
Q

What is the purpose of the Ductus Deferens?

A

Stores and moves sperm from the teste to the urethra. The difference between the Ductus Deferens and the Epididymus is that while both holds sperm, the Ductus Deferens carries it from the teste to the urethra

24
Q

What is the purpose of the penis?

A

Serves as an organ of copulation ( sexual intercourse )
