What is the function of the epididymis?
To host the site where sperm mature.
When sperm is going to leave the body, which tube does it go through to get to the urethra?
The vas defrens.
What are the glands adjacent to the vas defrens?
- Seminal vesicles
- Prostate gland
- Bulbourethral gland

Secrete a lubricating mucous
What is another name used for the bulbourethral gland?
Cowper’s gland.
What is the function of the prostate gland?
Secrete a clotting enzyme to make semen:
* Gelatinous
* Alkaline (high pH)
What is the function of the seminal vesicles?
Secrete a solution that contains fructose.
(sperm food)
What is the pathway sperm takes in the reproductive system to become semen?
Epididymis → Vas Defrens & the 3 glands → Urethra

Spermatogenesis.

The distance covered by a sperm is long, consequently requiring a lot of energy.
