Phimosis
Foreskin cannot be retracted over the glans. Inflammation // infection. Potentially can lead to squamous cell carcinoma

Foreskin is retracted, but it CANNOT resume normal place.

on the side of the finger through the inguinal ring
Steps to minimize anxiety during genital exam?
Talk to pt about expectations, chaperone, have equipment ready to use
What is hypospadias? Epispadias?
Urethral meatus on ventral side of penis; meatus on dorsal side of penis
What are the spongy parts of the penis?
Corpora cavernosa (2) and corpora spongiosum (1, contains urethra)
What forms the glans penis?
Corpora spongiosum
What supplies do you need for a genital/rectal exam?
Gloves, penlight, lubrication, fecal occult blood test card if necessary
Where is a femoral hernia located?
In the femoral canal
Where is a spermatocele located?
On the epididymis
Where is varicocele located?
On the lateral sides of the scrotum, more prominent in the left side.
Where is hydrocele located?
Tunica vaginalis of scrotum

Genital warts
What is a chancre?
Painless lesion- sign of syphillis
How many Tanner stages?
5, 5th is normal male adult
