A
- Study of humans as to who we are, what we used to be, what has shaped us.
- Many students study abroad
- Field experience is required, since we are surround by the Amish and we are near the reservation..it does give students the chance to analyze different regions nearby with an historical background.

Archaeology
A
- Students will take several classes from different departments where they will be able to focus on regions and different time periods.
- Field school is required where professors have wide connections.

Art History
A
- Students have a wide concentration to choose from whether it is photography, digital design, sculpture and so much more.
- We have labs for students to work in where they can utilize plasma cutters, welders, black and white stations and many more.
- We have an art gallery on campus where students hold shows at with so much art on display and professional artists in attendance.

Visual Arts
A
- The required entrance for this major is a 3.0 GPA and a freshman portfolio.
- The goal of the program is to give students further experience in a studio and be able to advance in art history and art theory.

Biology
A
- There are many concentrations to choose from within the field whether it is Marine Biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, you have many to choose from.
- We do have a Health Science Committee that prepares students to have further careers in veterinary, physical therapist, dentistry, medicine, and many more.
- Students get the hands on experience and that’s why many of our students choose to attend Potsdam to study biology especially because of our location and they are also included to participate in faculty research.

- For students who are interested in Pre-Med
- Prepares students to learn many laboratory skills which can be directly applied towards future employment or graduate degrees.

Business Administration
A
- Our program prepares student for grad school (4+1 MBA at Clarkson, etc)
- Students are taught on how to build a successful organization by learning about management, marketing, accounting, human resource, and many more.

Chemistry
A
- Students within this major will be able to analyze, and solve modern problems where they will be able to work in a lab and develop hands on experience.
- We have many grants that go towards teaching and research so that students can receive the right amount of resource.

Community Health
A
- Revolve around students who will like to be health educators to improve the life of all people.
- Built in internship which is a full semester. In order to register, must have 2.5 average overall in classes, and must have a 2.0 in each individual class.

Computer Science
A
- (BS) Students who want to pursue a career as a computer professional will be exposed to software design, computer systems, networks, and much more.
- Electives can be in video games, graphics, and robotics, etc.
- (BA) Students can choose one of two concentrations .. Computer Science and Information System track.

Communication
A
- Students who will like to enter careers in public relations, business, law, or government.
- You’ll find yourself in classes that requires writing, speech, understanding the different types of communication when it comes to professional and even small group.

Music Education
A
- Students will have the opportunity to teach grades K-12. Two placements must be done for student teaching.
- Students can choose their minor to be in band, chorus, orchestra, or general music.
- We do have the highest accreditation which is CAEP.

Music Performance
A
- Students will have the opportunity to meet with their professor and have weekly private lessons, where the student can get receive constructive criticism and therefore improve on their performance skills.
- Most of our students go on to perform professionally, where we have several alumnis that the students can look up to such as Stephanie Blythe and Renee Fleming who pursued their careers in performing for
Opera. - They might find themselves concentrating in band, voice, guitar, and so much more.

Music Business
A
- Students will find themselves taking classes in Music but also will find themselves taking classes within Economics such as marketing, management, etc. because if you’re going towards business you will need to know how to successfully be able to build an organization.
- We offer our students the opportunity to attend the NAMM Conference in California where they will attend and be able to meet several professionals.

Musical Studies
A
- Students who are interested in writing their own music will be able to and will perform their pieces live eventually.
- Students will be able to work closely with professors and composers.
- Students can also do musical theory where they study music.
