Major Types If Membrane Transport Flashcards
Simple diffusion
No atp particles from high to low
Osmosis
No atp water through a membrane from more watery side to less watery side. Water molecules tend to cling to other particles dissolved in water ( solutes) so the side with more solitude will tend to be more watery
Facilitated diffusion
No atp Movement of a solute from high to low ( down its concentration gradient) with the aid of a membrane protein (carrier)
Active transport
Movement of a solute from low to high ( up its concentration gradient) with the Sid of membrane protein ( carrier)
Vesicular transport
Moves much larger molecules, droplets or fluids through the plasma membrane via endocytodis ( in) exocytidis ( out) pinocytodus( drinking) phagocytosis (eating) all require atp
