How to find relative major/minor scale?
Major to minor (3 semitone down)
Minor to major (3 semitone up)
Natural minor scale
Same as major scale but starts on a different note (6th of a major scale)
Harmonic minor scale
Same as the natural minor but the 7th note is rasied by a semitone
Melodic minor scale
Different on the way up and on the way down although starts the same way as the other scales
How to write a melodic minor scale?
- Write the notes (ascendng and descending)
- Add key signature from relative major
- Raise the 6th and 7th by a semitone on the way UP
- Lower them back down by a semitone on the way DOWN
