Major Drivers of globalisation Flashcards
Rapid spread of IT and Communications
This has allowed countries like India and China to compete and offer better value/quality services to western companies, India with IT outsourcing (although outsourcing is returning to the UK as customers start to value better quality and familiarity) and China with manufacturing.
Political Stability and strong institutions to handle national level problems.
Somewhere like the Congo has the resources to export on the global market, however lacks stability and has weak and corrupt institutions so does not integrate globally. EU nations on the other hand have both and can afford to engage in the world markets.
Growth of Income globally
industrialisation and the emergence of new sectors has created growing incomes, which leads to higher demand for goods. With higher demand for goods comes increased production needing better quality provision of capital goods, human capital, land and resources, In order to achieve this better integration is needed.
