Q

constitutional amendment July 23, 2008

A

1 in 2 articles of the Constitution were modified

limiting the power of the PR - strings on art 16 (reevaluation of its necessity), no one can have more than 2 presidential terms

more power given to parliament - slight check on presidential power of appointment (3/5 votes in parliament can oppose appointment)
change in art 49 allows parliament to pass statute without vote twice in parliamentary session
change of art 48 means change in parliamentary agenda to give them more control

greater rationalisation of parliament from government since government can force the NA to pass the statute (if they don’t they can be dissolved by the PR in art 12)

better protected rights
