Cannot inspect own work
QAR
Quality Assurance Representative
Inspects components critical for safety of flight
Works in QA
CDQAR
Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative
Same as QAR but works in their own work center/det
Safe For Flight (Qual)
Ensures 5 things:
1) All inspections are signed off
2) Oil consumption logs reviewed
3) Fuel samples good
4) Weight and balance updated
5) Signs block 10 or makes off going pilot sign
Turnaround Inspection
What?
Ensure integrity of aircraft, servicing, and detect degradation
When?
Between flights (not for hotseats)
Valid for 24 hours or until the aircraft is flown, provided no other maintenance is performed
Daily Inspection
What?
Inspect for defects in greater depth than a turnaround
When?
Valid for 72 hours, or for 24 hours once it has flown (24 cannot exceed the 72 unless on a mission)
Who?
Pilots can perform with CO’s authorization when away from home without qualified maintenance personnel for periods of not more than 72 hours
What is a Special Inspection?
A scheduled inspection with an interval other than a phase or daily
Ex. 7, 28, 56 day or 30, 60, 525 hour
What is a Conditional Inspection?
An unscheduled inspection as a result of a specific overlimit or other events that create an administrative requirement for an inspection

What is a Phase Inspection?
One of 4 major inspections that occurs every 800 hours (A, B, C, D)
Inspection Tolerance
+/- 3 days or 10% of hours
Outside of this, the inspection must be rebased
3 Levels of Maintenance
Operational (37) - day to day
Intermediate (MALS) - calibration, repair
Depot (FRC) - Major rework or complete rebuild
