marshes and swamps have standing water.

fen has different inputs of water besides rain, and bog has only precipitation as a water input

marshes and swamps have no more than 30 cm of organic soil/peat, the same as being dominated by mineral soil
while, fens and bogs have more than 30 cm of peat, the same as being dominated by organic soil
