Q

What does ARM on the AP do?

A

When in VS mode, the aircraft will climb up/down to the selected altitude. (Use UP/DN buttons to change VS). When armed, the AP will hold the selected altitude when reached.

Q

Magneto check failure procedure

A
  1. Run at 2200 rpm 2. Lean for best rpm 3. Wait 30 s 4. Check again
17
Q

You just lost engine power, what do you do?

A

Airspeed 68

Best place to land

Checklist

Radio

Transponder 7700

18
Q

Unusual attitude facing DOWN

A

Power idle Wings level Nose back up

19
Q

Best angle of climb, Vx

A

62 kts

20
Q

When checking the magnetos, what does no RPM drop indicate?

A

That lead is not grounding, so danger even when ignition is OFF.

21
Q

Which checklists should you use?

A

Before takeoff

Climb

Cruise

Pre-maneuvering

Before landing

22
Q

Maneuvering speed, Va

A

90 kts at 1900 lbs 105 kts at MGW

23
Q

Vs1

A

48 kts at 0º bank 57 kts at 45º bank 68 kts at 60º bank

24
Q

What is detonation? What are some common causes of it? What should you do if it happens?

A

The fuel/air mixture is exploding rather than a controlled burn. It can lead to overheating, roughness, or cylinder failure.

Caused by: using a lower fuel grade, using an excessively lean mixture, steep climbs with insufficient cooling.

Do: enrich the mixture, shallow climbs.

25
Q

How should you have controls with crosswind?

A

With headwind - into the wind

With tailwind - with the wind

26
Q

Engine max RPM

A

2700 rpm

27
Q

Engine “running rough” means

A

Detonation. Mixture is too lean.

28
Q

What should you do if the engine fails at night?

A

You should have planned the route so that you can always glide to a lighted airport. But if not, ideally look for lighted areas like roads or large parking lots.

29
Q

What limitations should you be aware of if using a GPS receiver?

A

Lack of RAIM capability

Database currency

Antenna location (e.g. inside cockpit)

30
Q

What should you do if the engine floods on starting?

A

Start with throttle halfway in.

31
Q

When can you have fuel on either LEFT or RIGHT tank?

A

Level flight only

32
Q

Vso

A

40 kts at 0º bank 48 kts at 45º bank 57 kts at 60º bank

33
Q

Diversion checklist

A
  1. Find airport 2. Turn to approximate heading 3. Calculate distance and time 3. Calculate fuel required and check 4. Check weather
