A
- funding–> must be eligible for government health services
- capable adult–> 18 or older and capable of making healthcare related decisions
- grievous and irremediable medical condition
- voluntary request for MAiD, not due to external pressure
- informed consent–> aware of alternative, palliative care etc

- incurable serious illness, disease or disability
- irreversible decline in capability (advanced state)
- intolerable suffering that cannot be relieved under acceptable conditions

how many days must elapse between request for MAiD and provision of MAiD

10 days (may be shorter if death considered imminent)

under what conditions may someone sign by proxy for MAiD
A
- If the person requesting MAID is unable to sign & date the request, another person (proxy) may do so IF:
- In the person’s presence, on their behalf & under their express direction
- 18 years old
- Understand the nature of request for MAID
- Would NOT benefit from the person’s death (including will)
