2000, Nebbiolo from Monteforte, Piedmont. High acid, high tannin, muscular modern Barolo. Lots of oak, ripe red and black cherries with chocolate, vanilla, and baking spice. Great for cali cab drinkers and great with steak and the maialino. Nebbiolo glass/$.

A

2008, Sagrantino blend from Montefalco, Umbria. A full bodied red with notes of blackberry, black cherry, plum, vanilla, and baking spice. There is some potting soil earthiness as well, with moderate acidity and lots of tannins. Great suggestion for new world cab drinkers. Sangiovese glass/$.

2013 from Piedmont, paired with the Torte Della Nonna, sweet, lightly fizzed white wine with peach, apricot, and tropical fruit. Sweetness matches the torte and the acidity brings out the citrus notes in the dessert. Sherry/ dessert glass.
