What is the name of the wire that coils around the conductor in an electromagnet?
The solenoid

Where would a compass point if it was placed next to a bar magnet?
The direction of the magnetic field lines

What is a relay used for?
To switch on high voltage appliances
How does a relay work?
When you switch on the switch, it creates an electromagnet which attracts an iron block and this pulls two contacts which complete the circuit and the appliance is switched on
How does a doorbell work?
When the button is pressed, it creates an electromagnet which attracts and iron block which is on an armature and this has the clanger attached. The circuit is broken which resets the process
