Magnets Flashcards
How do magnets interact with each other?
Opposite poles attract, and like poles repel. If you were to put two north poles together, theywouldrepel, but a north and a southwouldstick together
What are magnetic materials?
Iron, nickel and cobalt are magnetic materials they sick to magnets
What does the magnetic field around a bar magnet look like?
circles around a magnet
What is the strongest part of a magnet?
The magnetic field around at either poles
How is a compass used to navigate?
It is a magnet, the artic (north pole) is the north of the world which means that when you are looking for the North it will face the artic. Then if you point to Antarctica (south pole) your compass will show south.
What factors change the strength of an electromagnet?
Iron, nickel, cobalt
wire connected to a electro box
wire rapped around
How do permanent magnets and electromagnets compare?
permanent magnets are stronger than electromagnet
