He selected Stephen Langton as Archbishop of Canterbury. John hated Stephen and wanted it to be his own choice.

The barons. They did not like him as he raised taxes. The barons also had to sed knights to him. They were included to pay tax for John’s expenive wars.

The barons rebelled against John.

The Magna Carta was signed.

The King could not interfere with the church.

The King could not raise taxes without barons agreement.
