Q

Do ZX8 Inputs support fire zones?

A

No, for 2 wire smoke installations MG5050, SP6000 and SP7000 zone 1 inputs only support the fire zone definitions. Section 706, option 3 must be enabled.

For 4 wire smoke installations, you can use any panels, on any on-board zone inputs.

Q

How do you reprogram the users to be able to send arming and disarming reports? What are the default settings and describe what environment you’d want users to be able to send arming and disarming reports.

A

You reprogram users by entering section 471 - 502 and change arming from 00 to FF, as 00 means it is disabled and FF means it is enabled. Section 801 Option 1 will also need to be disabled which will ALWAYS send an alarm.

The default setting are:

Arming: 00
Disarming: FF

And enabling arming/disarming codes is commonly used for commercial use.

27
Q

What is the default programming of the buttons on a wireless remote? (REM1/REM2/REM15)

A
The lock key is programmed as 1:
Regular/Force arming.
One Dot is programmed as 4:
Sleep/Sleep Force arming.
Two Dot is programmed as C:
PGM Activation Event for PGM 1
One+Two Dot is programmed as 8:
Panic 1 Alarm.
28
Q

How do you program a remote onto a panel?

A

Start at the main keypad interface, press the power button and enter in the System Master Code. It’ll then prompt for the user you’d wish to program. Then you’ll need to set a code for the user, press the button remote twice to program the remote to the user and select the partition(s) the user has access to.

29
Q

How many sirens can you have on a panel?

A

5 Sirens, 1 Siren hardwired into the panel itself and 4 wireless sirens can be enrolled onto the panel also.

30
Q

Explain how to zone double.

A

First you need to enable zone doubling in section 705. An example of the zones would be zone 1 = ATZ zone 6.
zone 5 = ATZ zone 10. etc. You will need to wire zone 1 and 6 in the same zone terminal in parallel with zone 1 having a 1k resistor and zone 2 having a 2.2k resistor.

31
Q

What do the 1k and 2.2k resistors look like?

A

1k Resistor: Green with no lines.

2.2k Resistor: Brown with 4 red lines, RED RED RED.

32
Q

What kind of circuit do you use to zone double?

A

You can zone double using both parallel and series, however it is significantly harder to zone double in series. However you are required to zone double in series for the EVO series panel - however CSD Tech support does not support it.

33
Q

If you want to wire two devices in the same zone to trigger the same zone, what kind of circuit do you use?

A

Series circuit as a parallel circuit will not open unless both devices have opened simultaneously.

34
Q

How many bus modules can you have a panel?

A

15 Modules.

35
Q

What are 3 locations you need to program for dialling

A

[811] Account P1
[815] Phone #1
[817] Backup Phone

36
Q

What is a PDX-PGM4 and what does it do?

A

It is an expansion module that allows a panel to have additional hardwired PGM outputs. You can only have one addition PGM4 on a panel.

37
Q

What is a PDX-ZX8/PDX-ZX8SP and what do they do?

A

It is an expansion module that allows a panel to have 8 additional hardwired zone outputs. You can only have 3 additional ZX8 modules.

38
Q

What is a PDX-VDMP3 and what does it do?

A

This module provides a voice-assisted link with the control panel and can be programmed to call one or more telephone numbers in the event of an alarm. You can also call the VDMP3 from an outside line, enabling you to arm or disarm the system as well as activate PGM’s. The VDMP3 essentially turns any outside telephone into a keypad.

39
Q

What is a PDX-PCS260 and what does it do?

A

This module allows the panel to have a 2 way communication with the control centre. It will also communicate with a set mobile number in the case of an alarm, in which it will send an SMS alert.

40
Q

What is the max mA that the auxiliary supply can provide?

A

700mA.

41
Q

What is the max mA that is supplied to a PGM?

A

100mA.

42
Q

What is the MAX current drawn from the BELL and AUX terminals?

A

It is limited to 1.3A, 700mA for the AUX and 500mA for the BELL.

43
Q

What is the max distance a wired keypad can be from the panel?

A

76 meters.

44
Q

What is the maximum total length of wire you can have on a panel?

A

230 meters.

45
Q

What is a PDX-PMC5 and what does it do?

A

This module is a memory key with a USB and 5-pin connector that allows the upload and download of the system programming between modules and BabyWare.

46
Q

What is the purpose of the locking mechanism on a PDX-PMC5

A

While locked, it prevents the data on the device to be overwritten.

47
Q

How many personal phone numbers can be programmed onto a panel?

A

5 phone numbers,

48
Q

How many monitoring station numbers can be programmed on a panel?

A

3 monitoring stations, 2 phone numbers and 1 backup number.

49
Q

What is an PDX-IP150 and what does it do?

A

It is a module that allows you to control and monitor your security system through any web browser and through the Insight Gold Application. Rather than having your panel communicate to your pc directly, the panel will now communicate (through the IP Module) to the swan cloud server and you will be able to access the panel through any pc connected to the internet.

50
Q

How do you enrol the zone on a repeater?

A

Enter in the serial number of the repeater as a wireless device on the specified zone and hard wire a device into the repeater. The hardwired device will act as a wireless device.

A

Upgrade panel to v3.2 or higher.

63
Q

What is the trouble when SLEEP LED is on?

A

Keypad fault.

64
Q

A zone on a panel will not close. What are the possible faults that may cause that issue?

A
  1. There may be a wireless device programmed onto the panel on the same zone. The panel will always prioritise a wireless device over a hard wired device if it is programmed on the same panel.
  2. Module fault. The module itself may be faulty and may not close the zone. This can be tested by removing the module and wiring a 1k resistor into the zone to see if that will close the zone. If the zone closes then the module is the cause.
  3. Panel fault. As before when removing the module and wiring a 1k resistor into the zone, if the zone remains open then the panel itself is what is faulty.
  4. Programming. The programming may cause the zone to result in it being unable to close, a solution would be to check the zone settings, and after that if the issue still occurs - Default the panel and then test to see if the zone remains open once again.
