  • Megaloblastic (B12/ folate deficiency)

A

type of megaloblastic anaemia

autoimmune condition where intrinsic factor isnt made in the stomach which stops the body from being able to absorb B12

A
  • fatigue
  • brittle nails (onychoschizia)
  • loss of appetite/ weight
  • palpitations
  • pale skin, lips, eyelids
  • SOB

FBC:

  • low Hb
  • high MCV >95
  • often low folate and B12
